Bears edge Chargers 33-28

The San Diego Chargers came out looking to exploit a few new wrinkles in the Chicago Bears offense and helped to disrupt and harass Bears QB Jay Cutler who still finished with a decent line of 4-5 for 38 yards and one touchdown. He was also sacked twice.

Cutler is working on a new offense brought in with the arrival of Marc Trestman who replaced Lovey Smith.

“There are certain plays we’re running for the first time against a live defense that isn’t the Bears,” Cutler said of preseason game mistakes. “Some things you just have to experience. Sometimes you’re going to make mistakes. Sometimes it’s going to go off without a hitch.

The Bears Matt Forte had a great night running for 74 yards on eight carries (9.3 avg) and a touchdown including a 58-yard jaunt that set up the games first touchdown.  The run was set up with excellent team blocking.

“It was a very well-blocked play,” Forte said.

The Bears take on the Oakland Raiders on Friday August 23rd. Tickets are still available.
