This wasn’t the way new General Manager Ryan Pace expected the new season to begin when he signed on with the Chicago Bears, yet here we are with a rash of injuries. Add center Hroniss Grassu to the list after he injured what the team fears is his ACL and could be out for the entire season.
Other injuries include WR Alshon Jeffrey (hamstring), WR Eddie Royal (concussion), TE Zach Miller (concussion), RG Ryan Long (calf strain).

The Chicago Bears went into MetLife Stadium with a goal of coming out with a win and the they did just that holding off the Bears and had to hold off QB Geno Smith’s last drive and had not receiver Jeremy Kerley not been out of bounds at the Jets nine yard line. The Bears pick up the 27-19 victory.
“There were some plays you wish you could have back,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said after the game.
The Bears are back at home next week as the Green Bay Packers come calling. Great seats and cheap tickets are still available so be sure to get yours now!
Newly signed Defensive End Jared Allen has to his new team as well as his former team, the Minnesota Vikings. Allen inked a 4-year $32 Million contract with the Bears last week and showed the confidence that he has always shown.
“My play speaks for itself,” Allen said. “The way I finished the year I think spoke loud and clear.”
Allen, who is now a full year removed from shoulder surgery, says he is in top shape and had a self confessed “glitch” in his technique towards the end of the 2013 season. Still he finished with 52 tackles and 11 sacks and while he could have signed with any number of teams, he went to work trying to figure out the best fit for his game.
“I wanted to make sure that A, they had a quarterback, because if you have a quarterback, you have a chance. B, it had to be scheme or system that I fit into, and C, I wanted to be … believing in the system and believing in the staff that I’m playing for, and really being on the same page philosophically about what they’re trying to accomplish.”
The Bears continue to prepare for the 2014 preseason.
